its a long, packed day!
i remember someone in a radio show saying that travelers can skip hakodate (函館) when traveling in hokkaido for its too far away from furano (hong kong ppl’s favorite) n there aint much in the city. i totally dont agree with that. its a very cool city, with its beautiful waterfront n nite view, euro-style architectures n walkways. n on top of all these, its specialty – イカ (squid)! so even for hk travelers, although the city is far away from furano, the wonderful flowerland, try something different n spend a day in hakodate 😉
i went to hakodate morning market (函館朝市) for brunch, n had a 活いか踊り丼 (dancing squid sushi bowl). i wanted to try it for i was curious. but after i had it, i was bothered. its really alive n “dancing” in the bowl! 😯 good experience though. yet, too cruel n not respecting lifes, one try is enough (let me upload the video of how the squid “danced” when i have the chance later)
goryokaku (五稜角) n goryokaku tower (五稜角タワー): there aint much inside the star now, but i guess it will have more to offer later for seems like they r in the process of building some museums n whatnot. but definitely go up to the tower. beside the nice view of the star n the city, i got myself educated too! learned some history of japan, the way japanese in the past live n think etc…
took my time n walked around the euro-style architectures for like 2-3 hours, looking at the the beautiful harbour view of hakodate makes me wonder if hong kong will still have its harbour view years later, or will it become a “river view”…
the famous squid festival (イカ祭り）！i m so happy that i have put this in my to-do list and arranged my schedule for this early enough! its all about squid n dancing, many groups performed, its like a mixture of jazz dance n traditional japanese dance (can i call this a fusion dance? haha 8) )
n here is a dance performance with a group mooning (now, have i caught ur attention? hahaha).
very beautiful, n i wont compare it with hong kong’s nite view, for there is no need to compare, just enjoy it! 😀
