Yesterday, i applied what i have learned in Heart N Tree and made some hard dough and naan bread for dinner. Taking into account that these were my first homemade bread, even though they were far from perfect, I am very happy with them and I give myself a A-😀
I made the bread in the morning. Even though I had the recipe, I realized that I couldn’t just blindly follow it, and do exactly what I did when I was in Heart N Tree, but taste, feel, and adjust along the way. The oven we use are different. Mine is a gas oven, smaller in size, as well as in possible temperature range. And I bet the different brand of yeast, flour, and other ingredients we use make a difference in the time and temperature required for rising, kneading, baking, and such.
Now I understand why, for many times, when I asked for the details in a recipe (eg: cooking time, amount of seasoning, etc), the answers were “you need to taste and check”, “depends…”, “hard to say”…
Again, I see that one doesn’t really know how to do it unless she goes ahead, gets her hands dirty, and experiences it for real😀
BTW, these are nutty apple cinnamon buns. Yummy but their bottoms are all burnt hehe
Despite the hard dough buns were a little burnt, the naan bread were great. Perfect! 8) And for the curry, I was being a bit creative here, doing a mix of Japanese curry paste, Indian curry powder, and paprika. Oh! I also added some pineapple chutney😀
